The King James Version (1611) is also called the Autorised Version (AV) of the KJV because it was the editon of the English King James I. He was authorizing this Bibletranslation for the Anglican Church of England.

The 54 translators look for the Hebrew, Aramic en Greek texts. They worked in the same way as in Holland later the Dutch translators from the Statenvertaling, the equivalent of the Authorised Version of the King James Version.
